MR Atelier and Store Flex / Gema Arquitetura

Archdaily.com

Designing the new Mariah Rovery workshop and the first store of her Flex brand in the heart of Pinheiros, in São Paulo, was a beautiful challenge. The chosen property, a semi-detached house from the 1950s, demanded the rescue of its personality, amplifying the relationship with the street, in an invitation to freedom and expressiveness so dear to the brand.

Improving the robustness of the Sequentially Optimized Reconstruction Strategy (SORS) for visual field testing

Plos.org

by Runjie Bill Shi, Moshe Eizenman, Yan Li, Willy Wong

Perimetry, or visual field test, estimates differential light sensitivity thresholds across many locations in the visual field (e.g., 54 locations in the 24–2 grid). Recent developments have shown that an entire visual field may be relatively accurately reconstructed from measurements of a subset of these locations using a linear regression model. Here, we show that incorporating a dimensionality reduction layer can improve the robustness of this reconstruction. Читать дальше...

Prevalence and risk factors of early postoperative seizures in patients with glioma: A protocol for meta-analysis and systematic review

Plos.org

by Bo Sun, Wenpeng Lu, Wangyang Yu, Ye Tian, Peng Wang

Under-utilisation of noncommunicable disease screening and healthy lifestyle promotion centres: A cross-sectional study from Sri Lanka

Plos.org

by Thilini Herath, Manuja Perera, Anuradhani Kasturiratne

Background

Healthy Lifestyle Centres (HLCs) are state-owned, free-of-charge facilities that screen for major noncommunicable disease risks and promote healthy lifestyles among adults older than 35 years in Sri Lanka. The key challenge to their effectiveness is their underutilisation. This study aimed to describe the underutilisation and determine the factors associated, as a precedent of a bigger project that designed and implemented an intervention for its improvement. A scoping review on self-regulation and reward processing measured with gambling tasks: Evidence from the general youth population

Plos.org

by Francesca Bentivegna, Efstathios Papachristou, Eirini Flouri

Aberrant reward processing and poor self-regulation have a crucial role in the development of several adverse outcomes in youth, including mental health disorders and risky behaviours. This scoping review aims to map and summarise the evidence for links between aspects and measures of reward processing and self-regulation among children and adolescents in the general population. Specifically, it examined the direct associations... Читать дальше...

The changing meaning of “no” in Canadian sex work

Plos.org

by Lynn Kennedy

With the migration of sex workers to online advertising in Canada, a substantial body of research has emerged on how they communicate with prospective clients. However, given the enormous quantity of archival material available, finding representative ways to identify what sex workers say is a difficult task. Numerical analysis of commonly used phrases allows for the analysis of large numbers of documents potentially identifying themes that may be missed using other techniques. Читать дальше...

Pathogenic characteristics of an aggregated diarrhea event caused by Plesiomonas shigelloides from stream

by Peng Zhang, Huimin Yao, Lei Ji, Liping Chen, Deshun Xu, Wei Yan

This study aimed to investigate the cause of a foodborne disease outbreak in Huzhou on August 14, 2023. Multiple enteropathogens were detected using FilmArray, and the pathogen was subsequently isolated and cultured from anal swabs of the cases and stream water. The isolated strains were identified using VITEK MS, and antimicrobial susceptibility test, pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) molecular typing, and whole genome... Читать дальше...
