Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood mortified after mocking Anton Du Beke’s ‘fake’ teeth that are actually REAL

STRICTLY judge Craig Revel Horwood was left red-faced last night after mocking Anton Du Beke’s ‘comedy’ teeth – not realising they were REAL.

Anton, 53, was performing as famously wonky-toothed character Austin Powers – and the 54-year-old assumed he was wearing fake gnashers.

Strictly judge Craig told him: “I was slightly distracted by the wig and the fake teeth you have in.”

But Anton replied icily: “They’re not fake by the way, they’re all my own, dear.”

Host Tess Daly, who was in hysterics over the gaffe, was doubled over with laughter before asking: “They’re not fake are they? Just to clarify that?”

Mortified, Craig clasped a hand to his face, replying: “They’re not fake? Oh, God. Really?”

Bruno Tonioli shouted across: “They’re his real teeth” as Anton’s partner Emma Barton whispered: “Slightly embarassing.”

Craig, looking uncharacteristically ashamed and lost for words, eventually said: “Sorry Anton, I really…

“Sorry. It’s because of the wig and the glasses and everything.”

Fellow judge Motsi Mabuse tried to get things back on track by saying: “Now we know, the teeth are real” before launching into her serious dance analysis.

But as the laughter continued, she said: “Are we still looking at the teeth?”

Continuing her criticism of the dance, she touched on a series of technical points before concluding: “You’re great, the teeth are beautiful, bye bye!”

Later, once Anton had climbed the stairs into the balcony where Claudia Winkleman was waiting with the dancers and celebs, Anton explained: “I’d like to say I’d never been so offended but that wouldn’t be true darling.”

Claudia reassured him: “They’re gorgeous” adding: “I’ve never seen Craig cry with laughter and Tess properly went too.”

Viewers were in hysterics over the mishap, with one insisting: “Craig thinking Anton’s teeth are fake is the funniest thing to ever happen on this show.”

Another laughed: “The face on @CraigRevHorwood on #BBCStrictly when he realised Anton was not wearing false teeth. Brilliant .”
