[Cross Country] Women's Cross Country Falcons Post Runner-Up Finish at Mid-States Classic; ...
Winfield, Kan. – The Friends University Women's Cross Country squad came through with a runner-up finish today (Oct. 26) at the Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.
"I am extremely proud of our Ladies today as we made some improvements through our 1-7th girls," Friends head coach Jason Parr said. "Cross Country is without doubt a true team sport. You never know where your 1-7 will finish on any given weekend race. This was truly the case today. Several other girls had to step up today because Aileen (Gurrola) didn't have her best day. Congratulations to Aubry Donley for breaking the 19min in the 5k to move up to seventh on the all-time Friends top 10 list." Miranda Tenove finished 16th overall with a 19:16 5k time, a 30 second personal best for her.
"Miranda made some big improvements today as it was much needed," Parr said.
Caroline Giles finished third on the Falcons with a new personal best mark of 19:26 to come in 20th overall. "Caroline has continued to get stronger as the season as gone on," Parr said. "We will need this as we head into conference meet in two weeks at home.
Nicole Sprague produced a 25th overall finish with a time of 19:33. "Nicole continues to be consistent all season and we will need her effort in two weeks to come up big," Parr said. "Aileen had a tough day due to some back problems but still showed tremendous toughness to finish 35th overall with a mark of 19:58.
Rounding out the top seven for the Falcons were Shelby Hundley at 43rd overall (20:14) and Morgan Smith in 45th (20:16).
