Wolverine's New Comic Starts The Last Way Fans Expect
The first cover of the upcoming Wolverine #1 promises a road through hell is ahead for the adamantium mutant. But whatever strange villains or threats Logan will be encountering in 2020, the first official preview of Wolverine #1 shows the comic has plenty of surprises in store.
The preview comes direct from Marvel in the form of unlettered pages, meaning the script supplied by writer Benjamin Percy will remain a mystery for now. Thankfully, the work of artist Adam Kubert has been completed, showing fans what to expect when the new series meets Logan. And let's just say... the average fans won't expect for a new age of Wolverine to being so... happily?
The interior pages were revealed as part of MCM Comic Con in London, and supplied from Marvel's official site. As fans who read through House of X will recall, it was a scene of Wolverine, Charles Xavier, and a group of children that first showed a new status quo on Krakoa (viewed through the eyes of Jean Grey). That's the same tone, if not the same scene, which begins this preview. Which means if fans are looking to see Logan and Jean connecting through long gazes, before Wolverine joins up with Kate Pryde and her Marauders, they are in luck. Check out the official preview pages below:
Just in case the devoted Logan fans are suspicious, seeing Wolverine embracing the new homeland of Krakoa, the happiness that comes with true safety (even from dying in action with the X-Men), or the suggestion of a rekindling romance with Jean Grey, fear not. Writer Benjamin Percy spoke about his dedication when the series was announced (courtesy of CBR):
I am deeply aware of the character's legacy. And I'm deeply respectful of all the great writers who have come before me, from Aaron to Windsor-Smith to Claremont, and more, so many more. But I'm also completely geeked to put my own (slash) mark on the character for as long as I'm his custodian. And I couldn't be more excited to join forces with one of the most iconic artists to ever bring Logan to savage life: Adam Kubert. He's handing in art that will make your eyes melt out of your skull. Hot damn is this going to be fun. And you can bet your ass we're putting our whole heart into making a kickass comic for you all to enjoy.
Wolverine #1 will arrive in your local comic book shop as part of the second wave of new X-Men books, in February 2020.
