Ducks rally on home ice, top Rangers in shootout
Jakob Silfverberg and Ondrej Kase scored in the shootout after Hampus Lindholm tied the game on the power play with 1:46 remaining in the third period and Anaheim rallied at home for a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.
Silfverberg also had a power-play goal for the Ducks. Erik Gudbranson also scored, and John Gibson stopped three shots in the shootout after making 29 saves through overtime.
Mika Zibanejad had two goals for the second straight game and Artemi Panarin scored for the fourth consecutive game, but the Rangers ended up going 2-1-1 on their four-game road trip.
Penguins 5, Kings 4: Bryan Rust scored twice in regulation and got the lone goal in the shootout, and Pittsburgh defended its home ice. Rust faked a shot on the forehand and flipped a blocker-side backhander past Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick for the deciding goal. The Kings had a chance to continue the shootout, but the puck rolled off Adrian Kempe’s stick.
Devils 2, Coyotes 1: Kyle Palmieri scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period, and New Jersey held on for a win in the desert, ending a seven-game losing streak.
Jesper Boqvist also scored, and Michael McLeod and Miles Wood each had two assists to help the Devils get their first win this month. Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 31 shots.
Blues 4, Blackhawks 3: In St. Louis, the Blues dominated much of their game with Chicago, outshooting them, and somehow fell behind 3-0. Then, in a development just as unlikely, they scored four goals in the third period, by three players who had combined for four goals with the Blues all season.
Wild 4, Flyers 1: Eric Staal scored twice and Minnesota continued to dominate on home ice, beating Philadelphia. Zach Parise also scored for Minnesota, 9-0-3 in its...
