Outriders: The Best Technomancer Skills For New Players
Produced by Square Enix and developed by People Can Fly, Outriders is a cooperative looter-shooter combining the gunplay and movement of Gears of War with the loot system of Destiny and Marvel's Avengers. Thankfully, Outriders is not overly complicated when it comes to crafting, looting, and armoring. There are many mods, upgrades, and weapons to choose from, but nothing is too overwhelming. With server issues being resolved, Outriders has the potential to become the next Destiny-level looter-shooter of 2021.
Outriders combines high-fantasy with blood-soaked combat. Players have four elemental classes to choose from once they complete the prologue. The Pyromancer uses flames to ignite their enemies from mid-range while the Trickster gets up-close-and-personal with time-slowing skills. The Devastator acts as the team tank, and the Technomancer provides support with gadgets and freezing attacks. This guide will focus on how players can best utilize the Technomancer in the early stages of Outriders. Being one of the more challenging characters to use, players will have to choose the right skills for success. Here are the best Technomancer skills in Outriders for beginners.
The Technomancer should never get up close in personal. However, their melee attack will freeze enemies in place and make for easy kills if they must. Gadgets are the Technomancer's best friend and will be doing most of the work while the Tenchnomancer fights from afar. Sniping can be a little stiff, especially on console. The Technomancer will require patience to master. However, they are a crucial member of any team as their gadgets make for more firepower than any other Outrider can provide. Their freeze abilities, when paired with the Trickster's time-slowing skills, make a lethal combo.
Outriders: Best Technomancer Skills
When starting, players will need to choose the right Techonmacer skills, whether playing solo or cooperatively. They'll unlock the first five pretty quickly. Here are the three skills they should be using in the early stages of Outriders.
Skill 1: Cryo Turret - Place an automated turret that deals damage and inflicts Freeze onto enemies. The turret's health depletes slowly over time and when it takes damage—24s CD.
The more AI the Technomancer has on the field, the better. The Cryoturret can be tossed like a grenade and spawned in the middle of a group of enemies. It's best to take cover behind a low wall and throw the Cryo Turret blindly over the other side. The Freeze effect the Cryo Turret has on enemies will make for easy sniper kills. The Technomancer heels when it deals damage, like a passive leeching effect. Don't be afraid to tank a few bullets to line up the perfect shot.
Skill 2: Tool of Destruction - Conjure a Rocket Launcher that can Interrupt enemies or a Minigun that deals damage per shot. The skill will remain active until all ammo is depleted or until you switch weapons.
Tap the assigned button to call forth a rocket launcher, or hold the button to summon a mini-gun. This skill is ideal for taking down Elite enemies or mobs of smaller enemies. While the Technomancer shouldn't play too offensively, especially in co-op, this skill will prove helpful in Outriders' early stages, especially if playing solo. Tool of Destruction will Interrupt enemies, an essential component to taking down captains before they cast their abilities.
Skill 3: Pain Launcher - Place a missile launcher and bomb the area in front of you. Each missile deals damage per hit and Interrupts enemy skills—40s CD
The Pain Launcher won't last into the end-game, but it's useful in the early stages. Players may opt for Blighted Rounds, but remember, more AI is always better. Besides, they can equip a decay mod to any weapon they choose. The Technomancer shouldn't be running-and-gunning. The Pain Launcher also interrupts, making it an excellent way to occupy Captains to create distance.
Technomancer: Best Weapons to Use
As players will be keeping their distance as the Technomancer, a Sniper and LMG will be their weapons of choice. In the time it takes for the Cryo Turret to be destroyed, the cooldown will have reset. Hold position, and let the Technomancer's Cryo Turret do the work for them. Pop up and snipe frozen enemies to regain health. The Technomancer shouldn't be using Shotguns. While playing solo, players might find themselves in more close-quarter combat. There's no reason for the Technomancer to be anywhere near the front lines in a squad, especially with a Trickster.
Technomancer: How to Heel Effectively.
Outriders doesn't have healing potions or health packs to pick up. Instead, players will have to play to their classes' strengths to heal with their passive abilities. The Technomancer will leech health with every bit of damage dealt. As a long-range combat class, the Technomancer will be dishing out large chunks of damage with high-powered rifles and LMGs. Their freeze abilities will make for easy targets, so players shouldn't be afraid to stand in the pocket a lineup headshots.
The Techomancer's passive leaching ability makes them a crucial team member when taking down boss enemies. For example, Pyromancers and Tricksters have to get kills to heal in combat. When 1v1-ing a boss, they'll recover a bit when using their ability, but not much.
Outriders had a rocky launch due to server crashes. Eventually, devs were forced to pull the plug completely to solve the problem. Thankfully, they've been transparent and plan to discuss the issue that led to these crashes. Don't let these issues stain what has the potential to be a long-running game. Outriders is a load of co-op fun for friends but still holds its own as a single-player looter-shooter. While Outriders is meant for current-gen consoles, it still runs well on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Don't worry; we don't have another Cyberpunk 2077 on our hands.
Outriders is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Last-Gen
