Students at San Jose Middle School in Novato raised money for the school Friday during the “Wild Water” race and festival.
The event included a 3-kilometer run from the school to the College of Marin Indian Valley Campus and back. Stations along the race route involved water balloon tosses and other fun, water-related diversions.
The 20 fastest girls and the 20 fastest boys competed in separate final heats. They were chosen earlier in the day in qualifying runs held at the school track during physical education classes.
Max Pasquale, an eighth-grader, was the top boys’ finisher at about 8 minutes. Georgie Castro, a seventh-grader, was the top girls’ finisher at about 14 minutes.
