People are just realising what the plastic pull tab on an oil bottle lid is for & it’ll make your cooking WAY less messy
POURING the exact amount of oil you actually need is easier said than done, especially when it’s coming from one of those annoying plastic bottles.
Perfectly good food can easily be ruined by overly enthusiastic home cooks who end up pouring too much oil.
But it turns out there’s a hack to stop loads of oil from coming out, and it’s already part of the packaging.
The little plastic pull tab is for more than keeping the oil fresh when it’s in on the shelves.
You can use it to stop the oil from flowing out so you can control the measurement for your food – who knew?
So instead of chucking it straight into the bin, just remove it as normal and turn it upside down.
There’s enough space around the sides of the plastic tab so the oil can still pour out, but you won’t have to worry about drowning your grub.
After the hack was shared on the @foodies TikTok account people were amazed they didn’t realise what the tab is meant to be used for sooner.
“So I have been living a lie my entire life,” one user joked.
A second commented: “How didn’t I know this until right now?!”
And a third quipped: “So I don’t have to deal with the whole glug glug thing?”
“Why don’t they say this on the bottle? It makes sense,” another wrote.
And another food fan was annoyed to discover the handy hack after just throwing away the plastic tab, they said: “Why didn’t I see this five minutes ago I just threw mine away!!”
But not everyone was convinced by the hack, and one said it seemed “unnecessary.”
“Why would you do that? It’s unnecessary, that’s what the plastic spikes are for,” they commented.
