Huge BBC sitcom axed after three series, confirms star
TV fans will be devastated after ‘The Tuckers’ has been cancelled after three series.
The comedy – which first aired on the BBC in 2020 – has been axed by the broadcaster, who revealed the decision was made to make way for new shows.
In a statement, the Beeb said: “We’d like to thank the series’ creator,
writer and actor Steve Speirs for bringing the Tuckers to life as well
as the incredible all-Welsh cast who brought the close-knit family of
loveable rogues to our screens.
“After three series we bid the characters farewell and look forward to
announcing some brand-new comedy series soon.”
Show creator and star Steve has responded to the decision on social
media after fans had been asking him about a fourth series.
He tweeted: “For all those asking about the next series of
TUCKERS…Sadly, It has not been recommissioned.
“To everyone who followed the lives of Peggy, Billy,Bobby, Nats, Shaks, Lush, Clock , Dawn and Melvyn… THANK YOU.
“(I’m sure Glyn and Murphy are still arguing down that bog as I type) xx”
The show followed a close-knit family in the Welsh valleys, with the
cast also featuring Lynn Hunter, Robert Pugh, Kimberley Nixon and
Alexandria Riley.
Kimberly wrote: “With a heavy heart, I can confirm The Tuckers are no
more.
“We won’t be coming back for a series 4 but I have the most incredible memories of working with the most incredible people.
“We laughed so much. We got to make something at home. And the biggest thank you to #stevespeirs for putting together such a motley crew.
Bye, Lush. You were bonkers.”
Fans are “devastated” by the news after growing to love the show during its run.
One person tweeted: “Very Sad news Steve. The Tuckers was going from Strength to Strength!!!!!! Extremely short sighted.”
Another viewer replied: “Totally devastated. I will still watch in
repeat as it’s a proper cheer me up.”
And a third fan wrote: “That’s disappointing but as always, the best
comedies are always three series or less. It was a great show.”
