I’m a hygiene pro & you’re definitely not washing your pits or bits for long enough, here’s how to keep fresh in summer
DURING the summer, it’s tempting to have two or three showers a day to keep you cool and wash the sweat off.
But a hygiene pro has revealed regular showers isn’t enough to keep you clean during the hotter months.
Taking to TikTok, Madame Sweat, shared that standing under running water wasn’t enough to freshen you up during the heat.
She captioned the post: “There’s no doubt that washing your body is important, but here’s the low-down on how long you should be spending.”
First she revealed you should, of course, spend two minutes brushing your teeth.
The cleaning pro said: “Underarms, not one of these,” she said as she demonstrated scrubbing the skin for a few seconds.
“The underarms should be washed for 20 seconds each,” as well as 20 circular scrubs on each she added.
For your bits below, the hygiene whizz stated you need to clean your groin area for 20 seconds minimum as well in the summer.
“It’s hot, it’s summer, you’re sweating.
“Your bum bum, okay you can cut that down to 10 but scrub it,” she added.
The video posted to her account @madamesweat has since gone viral with over one million views and over 80k likes.

Another commented: “I only do 10 on the arms but I use a lufa mitt and really scrub so I’m good.”

“I thought I was the only one who counted EVERYTHING I was when I’m in the shower, thought it might be ocd,” claimed a fifth.
