My mum made me have laser on my armpits at age 14, people say it was ‘bad parenting’ but it was the best thing she did
A WOMAN has revealed she has never shaved in her life as her mum got her laser hair removal treatment at the age of 14.
Shania took to her social media account to hit back at trolls after people accused her mum of ‘bad parenting’.
One person said: “I’m sry but laser hair removal at 14? Not teaching a kid to love her natural body?
“Supporting the patriarchal idea of no body hair? IMO bad parenting”.
Responding to this comment, Shania first lifted her arm and pointed to her armpit to say: “I have never shaved my armpits.”
She continued: “My armpits would not look like this if I had shaved my whole life.
“I had laser done at 14 years old, that is why there is no hyperpigmentation or really irritating bumps or painful ingrown hairs.
“In response to all the comments on that post that it is “bad parenting” that my mom had me do laser at 14 years old…
“Sorry, but you might not realise how hairy brown people really are.
“My mom saved my life with laser at 14 years old, so that’s all.”
In the caption, TikTok user @wellbyshania added: “brown people are hairy, hyperpigmentation is real.
“The mother bhopa saved my life thank you very much.
“Mental health & body image especially if i had to shave everyday in competitiive sports would have actually been worsened if my mom didnt suggest laser hair removal,” followed by a red heart emoji.
People were quick to reply to the post as one person wrote: “Your mother deserves a trophy,” followed by a trophy emoji and a crying emoji.
A second shared: “Haters are the same that say don’t pluck your kids uno brown clearly we’re never bullied”.
A third chimed: “Girl you made a wise decision. It’s difficult to get rid of hyperpigmentation later.”
Shania replied: “So so hard :(((“.
Meanwhile, a fourth questioned: “I know the laser is not permanent. How many sessions did you get at the age of 14?
“And how many times have you done laser since then to keep up?”
Shania explained: “Literally did 3 session ever … so yes very permanent for me”.
