Report: Spurs midfielder is doubtful to be fit for Everton clash
The Standard have revealed that Giovani Lo Celso remains a doubt for Tottenham Hotspur’s s upcoming Premier League clash against Everton this weekend.
While Tottenham have been able to welcome back some of their injured players over the last couple of weeks, their injury list remains long, with the likes of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Manor Solomon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic all still currently sidelined.
The list of absentees is now set to grow, with Yves Bissouma suspended for four matches after picking up his second red card of the season in the club’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Friday evening.
Lo Celso a doubt for Everton match
Lo Celso missed Spurs’ trip to the City Ground due to a slight injury sustained in training and Ange Postecoglou insisted last week that it was not a serious issue (Football. London).
However, if The Standard’s update is to be believed, the Argentine remains doubtful to feature against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday in Spurs’ last game before Christmas.
The outlet suggests that the 27-year-old could potentially be back against to face either Brighton or Bournemouth later this month.
However, they do have one positive update on the injury front, stating that Brennan Johnson, who was forced off with a head injury against his former side Forest, is expected to feature on Saturday.
Spurs Web Opinion
Lo Celso’s inability to stay fit for any length of time continues to be a major worry. This is an ideal opportunity for the Argentine to step up and deliver since Maddison is out of action but it looks like his fitness issues might once again cost him the chance of reigniting his Tottenham career.
Ange Postecoglou must now decide whether to partner Oliver Skipp or Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg alongside Pape Matar Sarr in Bissouma’s absence.
