U18s Take On Hamilton On Friday
Hibernian FC’s Under-18s will take on Hamilton Academical on Friday in the CAS Elite League.
The match will take place on Friday 15 March, 2024 at New Douglas Park, kicking off at 7pm.
The Lowdown
After finishing in sixth place before the U18 CAS Elite League split, Darren McGregor’s youngsters will now take on Kilmarnock, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hamilton, and Celtic in their final five games of the season.
Our youngsters come into this one off the back of an impressive performance against FC Málaga City at HTC. A Dean Cleland hat-trick alongside strikes from Harry Wright, Alfie Smith, Reuben McAllister, a trialist, and an own goal saw the wee Hibees run out 8-0 winners!
In terms of the league, our youngsters have been in a difficult vein of form losing their last three games. However, McGregor has been fielding a young side with players either involved in First Team action for Hibs or out on loan gaining senior experience.
Our opponents Hamilton currently sit fourth in the CAS Elite League, two points and two places above the Hibees.
The Accies have already played one post-split fixture and were beaten 2-0 by Rangers away from home.
Head-To-Head
Our wee Hibees have taken on Hamilton Academical twice already this season; the first was the opening game of the 2023/24 campaign at HTC. The match finished 2-2 with Hibs finding themselves two goals to the good after the first period courtesy of goals from Dean Cleland and Rory Whittaker.
However, the visitors fought back in the second half after the wee Hibees were reduced to 10 men and ended up claiming a share of the spoils in the end.
The second game at New Douglas Park saw us fall to a 2-1 defeat, in what was another good game. Josh Landers bagged a goal that day, but the Accies came from behind to win.
