Just days left for shoppers to use loyalty points before bargain retailer AXES rewards
SHOPPERS have just days left to claim loyalty points before a bargain retailer axes its reward scheme for good.
The Works stopped customers from collecting points on its “Together Rewards” programme on March 30.
The scheme, which first launched over 10 years ago, allowed shoppers to collect points on purchases which could be used on future buys.
But the stationer ditched the programme in early Spring citing a “challenging economic backdrop”.
However, while bargain hunters can no longer accrue points on any purchases, there is time left to redeem any previously awarded.
If you have any vouchers that have not yet been used, you have until 11.59pm on Saturday (June 29) to do so.
Customers were informed of the change in an email from the retailer’s chief executive Gavin Peck in March.
It read: “After careful consideration, we have decided to end our ‘Together Rewards’ loyalty scheme.
“Against a challenging economic backdrop, we have had to look at ways to maintain the most important thing for our customers – everyday affordable prices – whilst also making savings across our business.”
The retailer added it was a tough decision for it to make and it was exploring other ways of rewarding its customers.
Fans took to social media to share their disappointment over the decision.
One Facebook user said they were “proper outraged” while another commented “oh nooooo, it’s such a good rewards card.”

A third added: “I literally just got one of these a couple weeks ago!”
Meanwhile, a fourth gutted shopper said: “”What? Why they getting rid of it.
“I loved having my rewards card it felt like I was saving so much money.”
Supermarket loyalty schemes - which has one?
MOST UK supermarkets have loyalty schemes so customers can build up points and save money while they shop.
Here we round up what saving programmes you’ll find at the big brands.
- Iceland: Unlike other stores, you don’t collect points with the Iceland Bonus Card. Instead, you load it up with money and Iceland will give you £1 for every £20 you save.
- Lidl Plus: Lidl customers don’t collect points when they shop, and are instead rewarded with personalised vouchers that gives them money off at the till.
- Morrisons: The My Morrisons: Make Good Things Happen replaces the More Card and rewards customers with personalised money off vouchers via the app.
- Sainsbury’s: While Sainsbury’s doesn’t have a personal scheme, it does own the Nectar card which can also be used in Argos, eBay and other shops. You need 200 Nectar points to save up £1 to spend on your card. You need to spend at least £1 to get one Nectar point.
- Tesco: Tesco Clubcard has over 17million members in the UK alone. You use it each time you shop and build up points that can be turned into vouchers – 150 points gets you a £1.50 voucher. Here you need to spend £1 in Tesco to get one point.
- Waitrose: myWaitrose also doesn’t allow you to collect points but instead you’ll get access to free hot drinks, and discounts off certain brands in store.
And a fifth simply said: “How annoying!!!”
It comes as video game retailer Game gears up to close two loyalty schemes.
The chain, run by the Frasers Group, is closing both its Reward and Elite programmes at the end of July.
Gamers have taken to X to share their annoyance the schemes will be dropped with them no longer able to pick up points.
One said: “The rewards scheme was literally the only reason I’d purchase from you guys instead of Amazon a lot of the time.”
How does the Together Rewards Loyalty card work?
The Together Rewards Loyalty scheme lets shoppers collect five points for every £1 spent in The Works stores.
Each point is worth 1p meaning 50 points would equal 50p.
Every three months, Together Rewards Loyalty members received vouchers based on the points they earned on their cards.
Together Rewards Loyalty members would also receive exclusive offers, gifts and bonus points during promotions.
The retailer previously confirmed no one could sign up for the Together Rewards scheme past February 27.
