Wario's Beef and Pork to appear on Guy Fieri's 'Diners, Drive-ins and Dives'
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Wario's Beef and Pork, a sandwich shop with two locations in the city, is set to appear on celebrity chef Guy Fieri's program "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."
The Arena District location will be on the Food Network show at 9 p.m. Nov. 8. Wario's, which also operates in Clintonville, announced the episode with a social media post, saying, "We recently had a special guest roll out to visit ... you might catch an appearance of Flavortown's 'most gangster sandwich shop.'"
Founded by chef Stephan Madias, Wario's is an East Coast-inspired sandwich shop. The menu includes sandwiches like The Steak, which comes with eight ounces of shaved ribeye, house whiz and grilled onions, and it can be made "Wario's Way," adding provolone and white American cheese.
Fieri has recently visited a mix of Columbus-area restaurants. Since August, his Food Network show has featured Joya's in Worthington, High Bank Distillery in Grandview Heights, Tommy's Diner in Franklinton, King Gyros Greek Restaurant in Whitehall and Katalina's in Harrison West.
In June, Fieri -- who was born in Columbus -- launched a new Italian concept called "Guy Fieri's Trattoria" at Scioto Downs. It features "an old-school Italian feel polished with textured glass screens, rustic wood finishes, an open pizza and pasta prep station and gallery walls."
Trattoria was set to open the same month as Fieri's inaugural Flavortown Festival, a weekend-long event in Columbus that was said to feature a "fusion of food and funk." Rock band Greta Van Fleet and country star Kane Brown were scheduled as headline performers, but the event was canceled earlier this year because of "unforeseen circumstances." Fieri has said the festival will still happen at some point.
Columbus-based clothing store Homage recently collaborated with Fieri for the "MLB x Flavortown collection," a celebration of the fan-favorite ballpark bites for all 30 Major League Baseball teams. The T-shirt line includes Skyline Chili nachos for the Cincinnati Reds and slider dogs for the Cleveland Guardians.
