Kelly Clarkson's Ex Husband's Family Releases Touching Statement After His Death
Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson and former stepson of Reba McEntire, has died at the age of 48. Blackstock, who was also a talent manager, was married to Clarkson from 2013 to 2022.
A representative for the family shared a touching statement about Blackstock to confirm the news.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," a rep told People magazine in a statement. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years."
The statement adds, "He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."
On Wednesday, Aug. 6, Clarkson took to social media to announce that she was postponing her Las Vegas residency to spend time with her children with Blackstock, River and Remington.

"Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas," she said in a statement on social media, including on X. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them."
She added, "I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding."
Fans were supportive on X, one stating, "Right on @kellyclarkson. Honor and love yourself foremost. Better shows, days and moments are coming. Wishing your kids' dad a speedy and full recovery." Another said, "You never know what people are going through. I’m so incredibly sorry. My deepest condolences to you and your family."
Another follower beautifully wrote, "Deepest condolences on this loss. It is perfectly understandable for you to take as much time off as needed. God bless you and yours. May you each know peace."
