Prince William Reveals His Future Hopes for Kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, & Prince Louis
Parents strive to create a better world for their kids than the ones we had, and in Prince William’s case, he takes that literally. He wants the world for his children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — specifically, the earth’s natural resources to be preserved for them and future generations. In a new interview with Hello!, the Prince of Wales opened up about his future hopes for his kids, who he shares with wife Kate Middleton, and it’s something we all want.
Ahead of the Earthshot Awards Ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Prince William shared, “As a father, I think constantly about the world my children will inherit. I want them to grow up surrounded by nature, opportunity and a sense of hope about the future.”
“But I also know that unless we act boldly now, that future is at risk,” Prince William continued. “The Earthshot Prize is about turning the tide, about proving to our children that we are willing to fight for their tomorrow.”
Prince William launched the environmental Earthshot Prize with naturalist David Attenborough in 2020. “Urgent optimism is the heartbeat of The Earthshot Prize,” Prince William told the outlet. “It’s the belief that although the challenges we face are immense, the solutions are within reach and we must act with speed and conviction to bring them to life. It’s not blind hope. It’s hope backed by evidence, by ingenuity and by the courage of those who refuse to give up on our planet.”
Spending time outside is important for the royals, as is protecting their peace indoors. Last month, the Princess of Wales wrote an essay for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, where she implored parents to “protect sacred spaces” in their homes without screens.
“When we check our phones during conversations, scroll through social media during family dinners, or respond to e-mails while playing with our children, we’re not just being distracted, we are withdrawing the basic form of love that human connection requires,” she wrote in part.
Middleton added, “We’re raising a generation that may be more ‘connected’ than any in history while simultaneously being more isolated, more lonely, and less equipped to form the warm, meaningful relationships that research tells us are the foundation of a healthy life.”
To combat this, Middleton encouraged us to focus on “protecting sacred spaces for genuine connection: family dinners, conversations, moments of genuine eye contact and engaged listening.”
The royals clearly care deeply about the world around them and their kids’ mental health, physical wellbeing, and future world they will live in, and it’s beyond inspiring.
