Road to WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2026 continues with Africa Qualifier in Zambia
Six national teams are set to compete at the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup Africa Qualifier, taking place from 5 to 8 November at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre in Lusaka, Zambia. The tournament will determine two African representatives for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2026.
This year, three regional qualifiers were held across the continent to determine the participating nations — one each for the Eastern, Western, and Southern Zones.
- Eastern Zone: World No. 9 Kenya
- Western Zone: World No. 5 Tunisia and No. 39 Cape Verde
- Southern Zone: World No. 22 Zambia and No. 14 South Africa
Additionally, No. 59 Burkina Faso was awarded an extra berth as the third-place finisher in the qualifiers.
“This is a proud moment for our country. Hosting the Continental Baseball5 Championship is not just about sport - it’s about uniting youth, promoting health, and showcasing Zambia’s potential as a regional sports hub,” said Zambia Baseball Softball Association (ZBSA) President Kenny Matishi.
With the expansion of the Baseball5 World Cup from 12 to 16 teams, Africa has two continental spots at next year’s global event.
