7 trillion tenge moved through a bank: Tokayev's press secretary provides clarification

Tengrinews.kz – President Tokayev's press secretary, Aibek Smadiyarov, commented on the previously reported information about the transfer of 7 trillion tenge through one of Kazakhstan's banks.
Smadiyarov emphasized that the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, does not disclose unverified information.

"If he said there were transactions (transfer) totaling 7 trillion tenge, then that is the case. The information was shared with participants in a meeting at the Financial Monitoring Agency and was not intended for public discussion; it was strictly confidential. The bank through which these transactions were made knows who the parties involved were," said Smadiyarov.

Additionally, Smadiyarov noted that, for political and diplomatic reasons, the President deliberately did not disclose the country of origin of the transaction funds, the recipient country, or the bank responsible for the transaction, especially considering the sanctions regime.
As a reminder, during a January meeting at the Financial Monitoring Agency, Tokayev mentioned that more than 7 trillion tenge had been transferred through one of Kazakhstan's banks from a neighboring country in 2025. The President instructed the relevant authorities to look into the matter.
