Uber Pays $20 Million To Settle FTC Claims

Ridesharing service Uber will pay $20 million to settle allegations from U.S. regulators, who said the company mislead drivers on their potential earnings and financing options, according to a release Thursday from the Federal Trade Commission. In its statement, Jessica Rich, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, said the agreement would help the average Uber driver.

Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States on Friday.

He took the oath of office in front of the Capitol just before noon.

The 70-year-old real-estate magnate beat his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in a shocking victory in the 2016 election, and he will start off his administration with Republicans controlling both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Korean Air admits to tasering unruly passengers

CABIN crew on Korean Air flights have used electric stun guns to pacify flyers on five occasions, according to an investigation by the BBC. The report says that South Korea’s national carrier is the only big airline known to fly with such tasers on board. They were first introduced on its planes in 2002.

Attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo welcomed the strong desire shown by ministers and the private sector for new negotiated outcomes to be delivered at the WTO’s Ministerial Conference in Buenos Aires in December this year. Responding to concerns about a potential rise in protectionism, the Director-General urged WTO members to show leadership and caution.
