Tap That Topeka beer festival returns this Saturday
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Tap That Topeka beer festival is back in downtown Topeka this weekend.
The festival spotlights local breweries and craft beer manufacturers—featuring beers, hard seltzers and other alcoholic beverages from across the country.
Tap That Topeka will also have food trucks, live music and an after party hosted at The Celtic Fox.
The event's hosts are happy to highlight small and local businesses.
"We just really want to show what Kansas has to offer by showcasing those local breweries," Katie Turner, the event coordinator for Tap That Topeka, said. "A lot of people don't realize how many smaller individual breweries are located in Kansas, so it's a really neat opportunity for us to help them get some recognition."
"As two people that run and operate a local business every single day, it kind of hits home for us of, this is what our local economy is made of, this is what local means to us," Hayden Federico said, Tap That Topeka's communications and social media director.
The event originally started as a charity beer festival. Tap That Topeka will partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters this year, who will receive some of the proceeds from the event.
"This event for them [Big Brothers Big Sisters] last year was their biggest event that they've had for 'Bigs' to sign up," Federico said. "So, trying to really help with that helps everyone in our community."
The festival takes place near the Kansas Statehouse this Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are available on Tap That Topeka's website, as well as at the event based on availability.
