You can also spend marquee money on spine players and they flop. You can also spend little on spine players, and reap the rewards. Lachlan Lam, Tommy Leuluai to name two from different eras.

We bought the prop King Vuni in the other year, an unknown and he flopped.

For every Kylie you have a king.

We could bring Nathan Cleary over on marquee money and if he was a failure the club would would get stick for wasting money.

The issue you’d have now with Dupree is that it wouldn’t just be paying a fee, it would be paying an inflated one. HKR have guys involved with plenty of money and if they’ve had 2 bids turned down in excess of £100,000, you’re probably looking at it taking £150,000 plus. I’m not sure he’s worth going to those lengths for and handing in transfer requests never has a good feel to it.

To be fair we don't know that yet, do we? And a six figure bidding war with KR seems a touch excessive.

Reckon that's about right.

The circumstances of it are monumentally stupid from Knowles but it's not a bad one.

Reckon 3 would've been fair, 1 for the actual tackle from the RFL and 2 from Saints for going in at 100mph with less than a minute on the clock in a game that was all over.

Hull FC • Re: On to Salford

It'll be a tough test for sure but we'll at least be playing with more confidence than last time.
They've shown they have errors in them when put under pressure.
As long we continue to put in the hard yards and keep getting a little bit better each week then I'll be happy.

1 match for Drinkwater. That probably means Mata'utia at half back but then who comes in a centre? Minikin, or does he take a risk with Wrench?

Wigan Warriors • Re: Pack for coming weeks

One more injury and it’s a real concern. As it stand now, I’m excited to see what Nsemba and Hill can produce, to see if Mago can continue his better form and to see if Ellis and Byrne can thrive on the extra responsibility. I love the attitude that runs through the club and even the fan base is buying in, that there are no excuses and we just crack on with the next player in line.

By the same token, You can’t be blind to it and think injuries never become an issue and I would imagine they’ll... Читать дальше...

Have to pull you up there. There has been an official state of emergency declared in the Wigan district today after a couple of injuries. Interviews with the coach, past players and the like, fans in blind uncontrolled panic. You'd think there had been an earthquake or tsunami the way they are all carrying on.

Meanwhile Saints have been decimated and persecuted and haven't even mentioned it, as that's what champion sides do. Читать дальше...

Wigan Warriors • Pack for coming weeks

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

We are down to the bare bones with our pack at the worst possible time with us arguably playing the toughest 5 teams over the next 5 games, certainly the toughest 4 in the next 4. What do people expect we will go with? Does anyone have an accurate timeline on the absentees? Singleton the next one due back?

Looking towards Hull KR on Thursday I would think Byrne and Ellis will be our starting props, Powell at hooker, Farrell and Smithies in the back row and Shorrocks at LF with a bench of Mago, Hill, Nsemba and one other. Читать дальше...

Helped turn the game along with Nsemba. He’s been pretty good this past few weeks. His concentration levels look to be up and the silly mistakes down. IMO it’s too little, too late and him showing he can concentrate and play well now only adds to the feeling that it’s right that he’s let go. We need players who don’t need a new contract offer to motivate them and concentrate their minds. Having a player needing to earn a move elsewhere in the next few months could be handy though. We don’t have the revenue according to the current incumbents but they have cried wolf on this far too many times. We had a chance a few seasons ago but unfortunately friendship got in the way and maybe the fact that to stay where we were was just too daunting financially and much better to return to the more frugal days for which accountants are more comfortable. This led to revenue falling as results and support declined meaning we entered the vicious circle... Читать дальше...

Wakefield Trinity • Re: Why accept relegation while Cas are so bad?

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

I notice there seems to be a buy out looming at Cas too. If they don't dilly dally like us, they soon could have new owners with a few Bob to spend. It would be a far easier job to get them winning again because they have far more to work with than we do.
