The week of February 20 was a busy one for SSU esports. Call of Duty played three games, while League of Legends, Overwatch and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate each had one of their own. Here's a recap of their performances:
On March 25th and 26th, the Shawnee State Men's Golf Team traveled to Battlefield Golf Club in Richmond, Kentucky to compete in the ALC Spring Invitational.
Shawnee State had game three on this beautiful Sunday against Thomas More, which was one of the better games the Bears have put together all year long. Even though the tough loss, 7-6 in the 10th inning, could be a building block for the remainder of the season.
Bears split up this weekend to compete at Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State and at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Invitational hosted by Cedarville University. Two Bears competed in the 5000m at Raleigh Relays. Cody Booth (SR) had the performance of the weekend hitting the NAIA B standard for Nationals in the 5000m race. Booth ran a time of 14:48.97 and finished in 171st place in a stacked NCAA Division I field. The Shawnee State Baseball team traveled to Florence, Kentucky for a three-game conference series against conference foe Thomas More University. The Bears would play a doubleheader Saturday afternoon falling in both games 4-5 and 2-12.
Due to the weather coming this weekend, the Shawnee State Bears and the Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands moved their doubleheader up one day. The Bears would fall in both games against the third-ranked team in the nation 7-3 and 6-2
SSU Overwatch became MSC runners-up during the week of February 14. There were also several other esports matches, with Super Smash Bros. and League of Legends participating in competition. Here's the recap:
EJ Onu was a stand-out on the basketball court for four years at Shawnee State University. Coming in during Coach DeLano Thomas's first year as Head Coach of the Bears, Onu quickly made a name for himself for his ability to block shots – even breaking his coach's all-time program record for blocks in his junior year.
The Shawnee State Softball team struggles in a three-game series against conference opponent Bethel University losing all three games
The Shawnee State Softball team traveled to Hamilton, Ohio to take on Miami University-Hamilton, in a Wednesday double header. The Bears took both games, scoring their opponent by 27 runs.
