There comes a day in every parent’s life when we have to admit a hard truth: it’s time to sell that old baby stuff. The adorable tiny sleepers, the crib, the nursing pillow … our babies grow out of things faster than we can blink, and there’s no use holding onto the infant accessories they’ll never require again (even if it is nostalgic and adorable). Letting it go can be a difficult pill to swallow, but you don’t need it to sit around collecting dust, either. If you’re wondering where to sell used baby stuff, we’ve compiled a list of the places you can go to turn your old baby gear into something more valuable to you.
The thrill of selling baby stuff for cash is great in and of itself, but there are so many other reasons to use sites like the ones we’ve listed below to sell, buy, and trade. Shopping sustainably is where it’s at, and every thrifty transaction you make keeps a product out of a landfill — and gives it a chance to shine again. For every bit of baby gear you can’t wait to get rid of, there’s someone who will be excited to give it a home.
Before you sell baby stuff online, be sure to ask yourself a few key questions. Is it an item that you’d personally love to get? Is it free of wear, tear, stains, pilling, odor, and rips? Are there missing parts? Is it something you’d feel confident selling to a friend or acquaintance? If your items pass the test, you’re ready to get out there and start making money!

Target
In case you needed another reason to love Target (ahem, we didn’t), their semi-annual car seat trade-in program allows parents and caregivers to exchange their old car seats for a 20% off coupon good for a brand-new car seat, car seat base, stroller or travel system, or selected baby home gear items. These trade-in events are held twice a year at participating Target stores (look here to find a location near you!). The best part is, the car seats don’t have to be functional to be usable, since they’re being recycled — so even damaged car seats have a place in the trade in. And not only can you combine the 20% off coupon with other offers, but it can be redeemed twice!
Since the first event in 2016, Target has recycled a whopping 3 million car seats, partnering with Waste Management to turn the used baby stuff into construction materials and products like plastic buckets and pallets. No word yet on when the second trade-in event for 2025 is, but the first was in April, so another will likely be coming along in the fall.
GoodBuy Gear
GoodBuy Gear, an online reseller of baby and children’s gear, makes getting rid of your old baby stuff a breeze. It’s so simple: just take a look at this list to see if you’ve got anything to trade, mail it in, and get a cash or store credit! Depending on what you’re trading in, you can keep 10 to 85 percent commission on the items you sell, so you can stock up on new gear just by trading in old baby stuff. And if you live in NYC, you can put your zip code in to schedule a pickup or dropoff near you.
Here are a few of their brand-name items you can buy at a fraction of the cost.
ThredUp
Babies grow so fast, don’t they? In fact, they grow so fast that sometimes you’ve got an absolutely adorable outfit (or 12!) that they only get to wear a couple of times before it’s too small. But that’s where ThredUp comes in. It’s an online consignment and thrift store that has something for every family member, from the youngest on up — even maternity clothing. You just request a “Clean Out Kit” that comes with a shipping label; all you’ve got to do is fill it up with your gently-used baby stuff, and drop it off with FedEx or USPS. Then ThredUp will take care of the selling, and you can get cash (or shopping credit, so you can buy stuff for bigger babies … or, you know, yourself).

eBay
As one of the oldest and most trusted resale sites on the internet, just about everyone is familiar with eBay — but not everyone is familiar with exactly how easy it is to sell old baby stuff and make money. You just photograph your item and upload it to the site with a title, set your price (eBay will recommend a price point based on similar things that have recently sold, which makes it a no-brainer), and wait for your item to sell. Once it does, you get paid in just a few days. Cha-ching!
Of course, eBay is a fantastic place to find incredible deals on baby stuff, too, just in case you need more or different baby stuff. Here are a few of the cool things we found for sale there — but you can poke around to see what kind of treasures you can find for yourself, like strollers, toys, baby and toddler clothing, and other baby essentials!
It isn’t hard to sell used baby stuff online, and the payout makes it worthwhile, whether you’re taking the cash or just replacing old things with new-to-you treasures. Once you start, you’ll be obsessed with what you can sell — and what you can find.
