Russians will steal more money
In the second half of the year, Russians will steal more money from bank accounts. The Central Bank predicted an increase in the number of thefts, RIA Novosti reports. The regulator noted that now the number of attacks using spyware is growing, and hacker groups have intensified.
The Central Bank believes that it will be possible to minimize the damage after the adoption of the law, which will allow the regulator to independently block fraudulent sites. “But it is no less important to increase financial cyber literacy and cyber hygiene,” concluded Vadim Uvarov, Director of the Information Security Department of the Bank of Russia.
Earlier in October, it became known that fraudsters most often use robots in combined attacks on bank customers. The main difference between a telephone fraudster and a bank employee is that representatives of a credit institution should not ask about code words, one-time passwords, or the value of the CVV number. In addition, the bank can independently suspend the activity of its clients’ payment instruments, but fraudsters need additional information for this.
At the same time, there is no way to protect your phone number from getting into the database of scammers. The leaks come from the bank. You can buy two phones or two SIM cards – for banks and for everything else, but this will not be a complete solution to the problem.
