Finance Minister Anton Siluanov at the Russia Calling Forum stated that the main condition for the abolition of the mask regime and the opening of the economy is mass vaccination. The forum was broadcasted by RBC.

“Of course, vaccination is an important measure in terms of defeating the pandemic. This campaign should be rolled out as soon as possible. Make the coronavirus vaccine available. The sooner we will take off our masks and open up our economy, ”he said.

Siluanov noted that the restrictions due to the coronavirus and the related drop in demand remain the main external risks for the Russian economy. “We need to minimize external risks. Whatever the price of oil develops, whoever wins elections in other countries, regardless of external factors from the point of view of budgetary policy, our decisions must be provided with appropriate resources. This will be done, ”he added.

Siluanov noted that Russia has managed to maintain its main reserves and the volume of the National Wealth Fund (NWF) will not decrease in the next three years. The authorities compensated for the temporary reduction in oil and gas revenues by borrowing. “We are going through the difficult period steadily. We will go to the normalization of the economy, ”he concluded.
