Structures engaged in construction will provide orphans with housing in Russia, said Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. These powers will be removed from the guardianship and guardianship authorities, she said.

“In fact, the government’s decision has already taken place – the powers to provide housing for orphans will be removed from the guardianship and guardianship authorities, they will be transferred to specialized structures that are really engaged in construction today,” Ms. Golikova said at a meeting of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for the implementation state policy in the field of family and child protection (quoted by Interfax).

At present, as a rule, it is the guardianship and guardianship authorities who are authorized to include the child on the list for the provision of housing. However, each region decides this issue at its own discretion.
