Scientist Gubanov partially pleads guilty in high treason case

Physicist Anatoly Gubanov, during the first interrogation by the FSB, partially admitted guilt of high treason, but later retracted this testimony, said lawyer Olga Dinze. He is suspected of transferring classified developments to the aviation industry.

“Initially, the case file contains a record of partial admission of guilt by Gubanov. But in person, he told me that he did not recognize her. Apparently, during the first interrogation, he was asked whether he submitted any reports within the framework of international cooperation. He answered in the affirmative. And this was used as an admission of guilt. But now his position is as follows: he does not admit his guilt, I believe that he was misled during the interrogation, during which he partially admitted it, ”Ms Dinze told TASS. She also said that Mr. Gubanov is experiencing health problems.

Lawyer Igor Nikolaev said that at the moment only he has a warrant to protect Anatoly Gubanov. “Anatoly Aleksandrovich has not yet made a decision on Dinze’s participation,” he said and refused to comment on the information on the partial admission of guilt. According to the agency, Olga Dinze was hired by the relatives of the accused. Mr. Nikolaev confirmed that the scientist has health problems, he has been scheduled for medical examination, while his client has no complaints about the conditions in the pre-trial detention center.

On December 3, the Lefortovo court of Moscow arrested Anatoly Gubanov until February 2, 2021. He is an associate professor at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and an employee of the V.I. Professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI). The MIPT leadership said that the arrest of the scientist was not related to his activities at the university.
