Conditions for exempting officials from responsibility for corruption are named
The Russian government has submitted to the State Duma a bill to release officials from liability for corruption under certain conditions. The corresponding document was published on the website of the lower house of parliament.
According to the explanatory note, officials are released from liability if the violation of anti-corruption restrictions and prohibitions occurred for reasons beyond their control. In the document, such circumstances include natural disasters, mass diseases, strikes, military actions and terrorist acts. It is noted that a special commission will determine whether there was a direct causal relationship between the occurrence of these circumstances and the inability to comply with anti-corruption requirements.
Earlier it was reported that Russian officials will be obliged to report on the availability of cryptocurrency. From 2021, civil servants will have to report and declare such currencies on an equal basis with other assets. In July of this year, Russia adopted a federal law, according to which virtual currency for some areas, including anti-corruption, is recognized as property.
