Europe predicted the lack of stability without balance in relations with Russia

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, predicted the absence of stability for Europe without balance in relations with Russia and Turkey. He wrote about this in his blog.

Borrell said European integration was necessary to overcome the conflicts between countries that have characterized the continent’s history for centuries. The Ottoman and Russian empires have also been part of these processes since their inception, he stressed.

“And today it is still clear that the EU will not be able to achieve stability on the continent if it does not find the right balance in its relations with Turkey and the Russian Federation,” Borrell said.

In October, French President Emmanuel Macron made a similar statement. In his opinion, the European Union should strive to improve relations with Russia and Turkey, but at the same time it is necessary to firmly mark its “red lines”: to insist on respect for the sovereignty and interests of European countries.
