No spoilers are ahead about the fourth season of “Black Mirror,” except for this one: As of this season, there are more episodes of “Black Mirror” about artificial life than about anything else. And “Black Mirror” isn’t sold on the idea.

Often the characters on the Netflix anthology series are given endless life by digital means — their souls are copied and uploaded, either into new bodies or data centers. Occasionally things appear to turn out well, as in Season 3’s beloved “San Junipero,” in which two women’s digital doubles spend eternity entangled in paradise.
