[Wrestling] Jacob Colon Joins the Viking Coaching Staff
Des Moines, Iowa - Grand View head wrestling coach Nick Mitchell is proud to announce the addition of Jacob Colon as the new graduate assistant to the program. Colon has been working with the team this fall and will become the graduate assistant starting immediately.
Prior to Grand View Colon was an all-American for Iowa Central and a state champion for Clear Lake High School. Following high school, he took some time off the mat but missed the sport of wrestling too much and decided to come compete at Grand View. After becoming a Viking it did not take long for Colon to get back on track. Colon was a 3X All-American and 2X National Champion at 133 lbs. In his runs to National Championships in 2016 and 2017, his closest match was 7 points as all other matches were decided by bonus points.
Everyone on the Viking coaching staff is pleased to have Colon aboard.
Mitchell said, "We are really excited to officially add Jacob Colon to our coaching staff as our new graduate assistant. Jacob has always embodied what Grand View wrestling and living a championship lifestyle is all about. That's why he was so successful as a student-athlete here and that's why he is going to be extremely successful as a coach."
