Tel Aviv (dpa) - The Israeli army said it has increased its forces in the West Bank following US President Donald Trump‘s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel‘s capital, a move that is feared to spark violence and protests in the region. "Upon the conclusion of the General Staff‘s situation assessment, it was decided that a number of battalions will reinforce in the area of Judea and Samaria, as well as combat intelligence and territorial defence," the army said, using the biblical Hebrew term for the West Bank. "In addition, more standby forces were defined, as part of the IDF‘s readiness to possible developments." dpa eka ar
