168 Zham: EU seeks concessions over EaP program to avoid conflicts with Russia - expert
The EU seeks concessions to continue the Eastern Partnership (EaP) program to avoid possible conflicts with Russia, Konrad Zashtovt, a Polish political analyst, said in a recent interview with the paper.
As serious facts justifying his argument, he cited the short-term programs with the member-states, and the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Program signed between the European Union and Armenia on the sidelines of the fifth EaP summit.
He also commented on a recent interview by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. “Sergey Lavrov puts the emphasis on [UK Prime Minister] Theresa May’s speech. There are both pro- and anti-Russian figures, and countries in the EU. Those sentiments are felt also in speeches of individual figures, and accordingly, they propose a specific policy line, but the European Commission is too balanced,” he said.
