Fantasy football start/sit, Week 14: What to do with Mark Ingram Thursday night

0

Ingram remains a top-15 rusher despite the emergence of rookie Alvin Kamara in the Saints’ backfield. We look at the fantasy impact.

Mark Ingram bounced back from an ugly Week 12 to lead the New Orleans Saints’ backfield in the win over the Carolina Panthers Sunday. Ingram rushed 14 times for 85 yards and a touchdown in the contest. He also added six catches for 37 yards. The seven-year veteran is sharing the backfield duties with standout rookie rusher Alvin Kamara. Ingram is the featured rusher in the Saints offense, and Kamara gets most of the pass-catching responsibilities out of the backfield.

Ingram will have a challenge on his hands against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have allowed the 11th-fewest yards rushing and seventh-fewest rushing touchdowns to RBs this season. Ingram had a great year versus Atlanta in 2016 with over 100 yards of offense and a touchdown in each of their meetings last season.

Fantasy impact: The Saints have been more dedicated to the run than ever before with Drew Brees under center. That is because Ingram and Kamara are playing lights out. Ingram is not invincible, however. He has struggled on occasion this season. The Falcons play well against the run, but Ingram knows this defense well. The veteran RB should be able to keep up his good pace Thursday night, especially given his high volume of targets.

Recommendation: Start
