20th Century Fox extends film distribution deal with Imax

Imax Corp. and 20th Century Fox, the film division of 21st Century Fox Inc. , said on Thursday that they have agreed to extend their film distribution partnership through 2019. As part of the multi-film deal, Fox films "Kingsman: The Golden Circle," "The Darkest Minds," and Marvel-branded titles "The New Mutants," "X-Men: Dark Phoenix," and "Gambit" will be digitally remastered for Imax's premium large-screen format and released in Imax theaters. Tickets for Imax theaters garner a higher price tag than standard movie tickets. Fox's agreement with Imax comes as the studio's parent company is reported to be in talks to sell it, and other entertainment assets, to Walt Disney Co. . Shares of Fox are up more than 18% in the year to date, while Imax shares are down nearly 24%. By comparison, the S&P 500 index is up more than 17% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up more than 22% during the same time frame.
