Brussels (dpa) - The European Commission has referred Germany, France and Belgium to court for failing to adopt EU laws on the recognition of professional qualifications, seeking hefty fines until they fall into line. The new laws aim to make it easier for professionals to work in an EU country other than their own, making labour markets more flexible and providing consumer protection. EU capitals had until September 2016 to inform the commission - the European Union‘s executive - that they had adopted the new rules, but Berlin, Paris and Brussels have still not done so. The commission has recommended a daily penalty of 62,204 euros for Germany, 53,288 euros for France and 22,260 euros for Belgium from the date of the court ruling until they meet the requirements.
