Ratings: ‘Empire,’ ‘Survivor’ and ‘The Goldbergs’ All Beat ‘A Very Pentatonix Christmas’
“A Very Pentatonix Christmas” didn’t do very good last night. Thanks to “Empire,” Fox won Wednesday in TV ratings, while “Survivor” led CBS to a first-place finish among Nielsen-measured total viewers.
NBC, which hosted the a cappella Christmas special, settled for a third-place tie with ABC among adults 18-49.
Fox was first in ratings with a 1.5 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, but third in total viewers with an average of 4.9 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Empire” at 8 p.m. posted a 1.8/7 and 5.7 million viewers. At 9, “Star” had a 1.2/5 and 4 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 1.3/5 and first in viewers with 7 million. “Survivor” at 8 put up a 1.8/7 and 8.9 million viewers. At 9, “SEAL Team” got a 1.1/4 and 6.8 million viewers. “Criminal Minds” at 10 received a 0.9/4 and 5.3 million viewers.
NBC and ABC tied for third in ratings, both with a 1.1/4. NBC was second in total viewers with 5.8 million, ABC was fourth with 4.6 million.
For NBC, the Pentatonix special at 8 had a 0.8/3 and 4.8 million viewers. “Law & Order: SVU” at 9 got a 1.3/5 and 6.2 million viewers. “Chicago P.D.” at 10 received a 1.2/5 and 6.5 million viewers.
Univision was fifth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.5 million.
Telemundo and The CW tied for sixth in ratings, both with a 0.4. Telemundo had a 2 share, The CW got a 1. Telemundo was sixth in totally viewers with 1.15 million, The CW was seventh with 1.07 million.
