Rex Tillerson: US backs Minsk Group efforts towards Karabakh peace

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has reiterated the country’s support to the OSCE Minsk Group’s efforts towards reaching peace over Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

“We support the efforts of the Minsk Group aimed at finding a solution to the NK conflict. We are satisfied with the commitments affirmed by the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents during the meeting in October, in particular, to intensify the negotiation process, reduce the tension in the line of contact. A key progress can be achieved only when there is a political will. We welcome the decision of the sides made yesterday to talk about the issue,” Armenpress quotes him as saying.

The US official further highlighted the importance of progress in all the processes to end protracted conflicts (also in Moldova and Georgia).

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is in Vienna to take part in the 24th OSCE Ministerial Conference, on Wednesday met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to discuss future peace efforts over Karabakh.
