The Falcons lost, but that didn't stop kicker Matt Bryant from trash talking the Vikings
Oh, well. We’re here for kickers roasting people.
Julio Jones had only two catches for 24 yards against the Vikings in Week 13. But that didn’t stop his teammate kicker Matt Bryant from telling Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes that Jones was getting the best of him.
On the latest episode of Turning Point on NFL Network, we were treated to some prime trash talking from Bryant.
“Julio is killing you ... so bad,” Atlanta’s oldest player yells at Rhodes after a play.
Bryant is 5’9 and 203 pounds. Rhodes is 6’1 and 218 pounds. Bryant is 42, a good 15 years older than the 27-year-old cornerback. He’s still going to say what he needs to say.
And to Bryant’s credit, he wasn’t wrong. The stats just don’t reflect it. On the play right before Bryant called Rhodes out, Jones had him beat. Matt Ryan just overthrew him and the ball went out of bounds.
This isn’t the first time Bryant’s clapped back at a much larger rival. Greg Hardy instructed the Falcons to “get the f—- off our field” after a Panthers win during the 2012 season. Atlanta had just clinched the division, so Bryant responded accordingly.
“Have fun watching us in January,” he said.
Both of these instances were during or after losses. Just imagine what Bryant must have to say after a win.
Sure, the Falcons lost. And yes, part of the reason for that is Rhodes pretty much shutting down Jones. But we don’t care, because kickers talking trash is hilarious. Never change, Matt Bryant.
