US sharemarkets were mostly higher on Tuesday as bank stocks gained ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. The Fed is widely expected to lift interest rates at the end of its meeting on Wednesday (US time). Goldman Sachs shares rose by 3.0%. Boeing shares increased by 2.4% after the company said that it will raise its quarterly dividend by 20% and replace its existing share buyback program with a new US$18 billion authorisation. At the close of trade, the US Dow Jones was up by 118 points or 0.5% - a new record closing high. The S&P 500 index was up 0.2% - also a fresh record closing high. But the Nasdaq was down by around 12 points or 0.2%.
