New Spa City theater troupe staging 'American Soup'
A new brand in theater is being rolled out for Saratoga Springs audiences with the show "American Soup," a kind of fantasy on late 20th-century America featuring Andy Warhol as a guiding spirit. iTheater Saratoga is the name of the troupe, which previously operated under the moniker of Creative Place International. "American Soup" opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the National Museum of Dance where it will run for six performances through Dec. 23.
"You see a family living through great events, and experiencing the pain and joy of being an American in the '60s, with the assassination of Kennedy and the Vietnam War," says playwright Mary Jane Hansen. "Things continue on into the glamour and the mess that was the 80s and the 90s.
