Donald Trump’s candidate, Moore, loses the Alabama Senate election to Doug Jones
- Doug Jones has won the Alabama Senate seat to become the first Democrats in a generation to do so
- He defeated the Republican candidate, Roy Moore, that was endorsed by President Trump
- Black Americans massively voted for Doug Jones to earn him the Alabama Senate seat
Doug Jones, the Democrats’ candidate for the Alabama Senate election held on Tuesday, December 12, has been declared the winner.
Jones defeated the Republican candidate, Roy Moore, despite being heavily endorsed by President Trump, CNN reports.
NAIJ.com gathered that the Republican candidate had been, prior to the election, alleged of child molestation and sexual assault.
Moore has, however, refused to concede the election.
He said: "When the vote is this close ... it's not over."
Speaking after the election, Jones said: "I think I have been waiting all my life and now I don't know what the hell to say. I am truly overwhelmed.
"We have shown, not just around the state of Alabama, but we have shown the country the way that we can be unified.
"This entire race has been about dignity and respect. This campaign -- this campaign has been about the rule of law.
"This campaign has been about common courtesy and decency and making sure everyone in this state, regardless of which ZIP code you live in, is going to get a fair shake in life."
CNN’s exit poll revealed that 96% of black voters backed Jones, giving him the Alabama Senate seat.
John Merrill, Alabama secretary of state, said that results are not yet certified.
He, however, said it is "highly unlikely" Jones will not be the winner of the Senate race.
He said: "I would find that highly unlikely to occur ... there's not a whole of mistakes that are made."
If the election result is eventually certified, the Republican party's narrow Senate majority will be reduced to 51-49.

A source close to the White House revealed that the election result was devastating for President Trump.
"This is an earthquake... it's devastating for the President," the source said.
Trump has however congratulated Jones.
He tweeted: "Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!"
NAIJ.com previously reported that Americans accused Trump's regime as the most corrupt in the history of the United States.
Recent surveys show that at least half of Americans regard Trump's leadership as the worst and most corrupt ever as far as politics is concerned.
The citizens actually believe that Trump's officials are immoral and reckless in their offices.
This is in contrast to Donald Trump's effort to stem the tide of corruption in the country.
According to Washington Post's report, Transparency International, the top nonprofit group that tracks corruption internationally, Americans are not confident that the present leadership has the character, willpower and capacity to eradicate corruption.
