We are still in APC! Adamawa commissioners deny defecting to PDP with Atiku
- The defection of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still generating reactions
- Atiku was said to have been followed to the PDP by some of his loyalists currently serving in the government of his home state - Adamawa
- The government has however refuted the reports
The Adamawa state government has denied media reports that some of its commissioners referred to as “Atiku associates” have defected or are planning to defect to join the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, in the PDP.
The state commissioner of information and strategy, Ahmad Sajoh, made this known on Tuesday, December 12, in a chat with NAN in Yola.
Sajoh said that following the media report, the affected commissioners had made it clear during the last State Executive Council meeting that they were still with the government.

“The affected commissioners had during the last executive council meeting made it clear that they are still in APC government of Bindow,” Sajoh said.
Also commenting on the development, the commissioner for agriculture, Ahmadu Waziri, who was mentioned in the media report to have defected to APC, described the report as “character assassination.”
“I have never been an Atiku associate, even indirectly and Bindow is my principal not Atiku,” Waziri said.
Also speaking on alleged mass defection in Adamawa APC, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal, said that there was no mass defection in the party in Adamawa.
“All our party executives in the state are intact and for sure the defection of Atiku will not affect the party’s fortunes in the state,” Bilal said.
Meanwhile, a political strategist, Dr Abbati Bako, has stated that Atiku possesses the political sagacity, exposure and wherewithal to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.
Speaking on the resignation of the former vice president from the APC, Bako said the political space in the country would soon take shape as alignment and realignment were on-going underground.
According to him, the failure of President Buhari to fulfill his campaign promises to Nigerians had brightened the chances of Atiku and the opposition to clinch power in 2019.
