Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the south-south geo-political zone commended chief John Oyegun, the ruling party’s chairman, for not giving rooms to corruption and impunity in the party.
This was contained in statement signed by the chairman, South-South Front (SSF), chief John Harry and released , on Tuesday, December 12, in Yenagoa, Sun News reports.
The leaders said: “Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is a pragmatic leader. He is making a difference in the ruling party.”
NAIJ.com gathered that the leaders said that it was internal democracy and respect for the party’s constitution that had contributed greatly to the electoral fortune of the ruling party.
Speaking about the recent exit of former vice-president Atiku Abubakar from the APC to the opposition party, the leaders said he (Atiku) left because of his personal interest.
They said: “Atiku Abubakar didn’t quit APC because of the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari and the entire APC leadership. He is itching for one last shot on the Nigerian political stage and President Buhari has become an electoral powerhouse and a big roadblock in his way.”
They also condemned the actions of the suspended deputy national publicity secretary of the APC, Timi Frank.

They said he has disregard for party supremacy and has limited knowledge of democratic system.
“Timi Frank is a mole and a political weather vane obsessed with the ambition of his mentor. He has no electoral value in Bayelsa State,” they said.
They also assured the APC chairman that prominent party members would not leave the party.
They said: “Governors, National Assembly members and other known party leaders will not quit the ruling party.”
NAIJ.com previously reported that the PDP had concluded plans to launch an all-time action that would see some members of the APC return to the opposition party ahead of 2019.
Top among those penciled for this are Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and a presidential aspirant of the APC in 2015, Rabiu Kwakwanso.
The move comes as the party reportedly begins search for a presidential candidate ahead of 2019.
Kwankwaso is a former governor of Kano state and has been in a running battle with his successor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
