Glimmerglass Festival stages 'The Little Prince'
On Tuesday and Wednesday next week, the Glimmerglass Festival presents "The Little Prince," an operatic adaptation of the classic illustrated storybook with music by the famed film composer Rachel Portman and libretto by Nicholas Wright. The shows will be at the auditorium at Cooperstown's high school, where the company got its start 42 years ago. It's the first holiday event in the company's history.
The two performances of "The Little Prince" will be semi-staged with piano accompaniment and will feature props and costumes from the production at Washington National Opera. The title role is played by boy soprano Holden Browne and the Pilot by baritone Christian Bowers, who also took on the role in the D.C. staging.
