The police lack sufficient work aids - Lagos commissioner of police laments

The Lagos state's commissioner of police, Edgal Imohimi has disclosed that between January and October 2017, 299 armed robbers were arrested while 32 robbers were killed during a number of recorded shootout, PM News reports.
He gave this report on Wednesday, December 13, at a meeting on Security which was held at the State House, Ikeja, Lagos.

In his speech he stated that 231 vehicles were recovered just within 10 months. In his report, he further mentioned that not less than 21 robbery attempts had been foiled by the police.
However, he said: “Regrettably, six police officers were shot dead in the line of duty.”
He explained that among others, the challenges that bedevil the police are insufficiency of patrol vehicles and faulty vehicles in many divisions.

According to him, work aids desperately needed include arms and bullet proof vest, five lorries troop carriers, ammunition, thunder blasts teargas canisters, hand grenades, riot gunners, smoke pistols, 200 patrol vehicles, equipped with communication gadgets, and five heavy duty towing vehicles.
NAIJ.com had reported that Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna central at the Senate had said that those in power in northern Nigeria must see themselves as servants, not as masters or demi-gods.
NAIJ.com gathered that he said this at northern senators forum retreat which held in Katsina on Tuesday, December 12.
Sani said the north must focus on education, agriculture, tourism, mines, ICT and health, to steer development in the region. He added that the region must also revive its manufacturing sector, and prepare a post oil plan.
