2 Nigerians make list of 50 shortlisted teachers for $1 million global teacher prize
- Two Nigerians have made the list of 50 teachers shortlisted to compete for $1 million global prize that will take place in Dubai on March 18, 2018
- The teachers are Ayodele Odeogbola and Itodo Anthony who teach at Abeokuta Grammar School, Gateway Excel College, Otukpa, Ogun and Benue states respectively
- Out of the 300,000 teachers that were nominated from 173 countries, only 50 made the list
Two Nigerian teachers have been shortlisted for the global teacher prize coming up in March 18, 2018.

NAIJ.com gathered that Ayodele Odeogbola who teaches at Abeokuta Grammar School, Ogun state, and Itodo Anthony who teaches at Gateway Excel College, Otukpa, Benue state, are the Nigerian teacher that made the list of 50 shortlisted teachers.
The prize, which was conceived in 2013, was put together by Varkey Foundation with the aim of rewarding one exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession as well as to shine spotlight on the important role teachers play in the society.
The prize comes with a monetary reward of $1 million for one out of the 50 shortlisted teachers, The Cable reports.
30,000 nominations and applications were received from 173 countries from around the world, out of which 50 were shortlisted
The winner will be announced by Varkey Foundation at the Global Education and Skills Forum in Dubai on March 18, 2018.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that Rita Odilinye, a teacher at Starlight Secondary School, Ogidi in Idemili north local government area of Anambra state, was beaten to death by the parent and relation of a 14-year-old student.
The secondary school teacher was reportedly killed by the mother and a relation of her student Okafor Chinaza who she allegedly flogged for not carrying out her duty.
