Ticket sales appear to be slow for UFC on FOX 26 in Winnipeg

UFC on FOX 26 ticket sales don’t look to be doing very well.

The UFC hasn’t been to the Canadian city of Winnipeg since 2013, when Rashad Evans defeated Dan Henderson in what was an injury-riddled and largely forgettable UFC 161 pay-per-view event. They’re back in town this weekend for UFC on FOX 26, with Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos featured in the night’s main event, and Ricardo Lamas taking on Josh Emmett in the co-main.

With the fight card just three days away, it looks as if ticket sales are a problem. As FloCombat’s Damon Martin provided a snapshot of the plenty of available seats at the Bell MTS Place.

At the time tickets went on sale back in October, the pricing structure was (in Canadian dollars) $316 (cage side), $212.50, $179, $144.75, $111.75 and $77.50, fees included.

While it’s a pretty solid FOX card from top to bottom, there are only five Canadians competing on the entire show (Misha Cirkunov, Chad Laprise, John Makdessi, Jordan Mein, and Nordine Taleb), and two of them are on the Fight Pass prelims. It also probably wasn’t the best of ideas to hold a mid-December UFC event in one of the coldest parts of Canada at this time of year. Temperatures are expected to be below freezing with a chance of flurries on Saturday.

Who knows? Maybe fans in Winnipeg are a late-purchase crowd, and we’ll see those seats snapped up as we draw closer to fight night. Otherwise, expect plenty of comps to be handed out.
