How does Alabama loss affect Bannon's S. Carolina gov role?
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — As conservative Republicans reel from Tuesday's loss in Alabama by the candidate picked by former White House strategist Steve Bannon to fill Jeff Sessions' U.S. Senate seat, Republicans and Democrats alike are questioning Bannon's influence in horse-race politics.
That includes a race in South Carolina, where GOP gubernatorial hopeful Catherine Templeton has aligned herself with Bannon.
In Alabama, President Donald Trump initially backed another GOP candidate before ultimately saying voters should support Roy Moore over Democrat Doug Jones. He's already waded into South Carolina's race, backing Gov. Henry McMaster in his quest for a first full term.
